Mount Polley Mine Update

On January 30, 2015, the independent panel investigating the Mt. Polley tailings embankment failure in British Columbia, Canada released its final report and recommendations.  Copies of the report can be found at

Additional investigations into the Mt. Polley incident are ongoing.

The Pebble Partnership continues to follow the Mt. Polley investigations closely to ensure that relevant findings are fully considered in the Pebble Project’s engineering design and operations plan. We share the many concerns expressed about this accident and are committed to taking all appropriate steps to ensure the long-term safety and stability of tailings embankments at Pebble.

To ensure that Pebble meets the standards and expectations of Alaskans, PLP CEO Tom Collier has committed to submit the engineering design for the project’s tailings storage facility to an independent review prior to initiating permitting.
